Settings

The Settings module contains your device’s configurable options — authentication, security, and diagnostics.

API Key & Require API Key

Controls whether API requests need to be authenticated. When Require API Key is enabled, every API request must include a valid key in the X-API-Key header. Without it, the request is rejected.

You can regenerate your API key at any time. Only one key is valid at a time — generating a new one immediately invalidates the old one. If you have applications using the current key, update them before regenerating.

Note

For development and testing, you can disable Require API Key entirely. In production, keep it enabled — especially if you’re using the .cloud tunnel, since your API is accessible from the public internet.

Password

The admin login password for the ProxyBox dashboard. Changing it triggers a web server restart, so you’ll need to refresh the page and log in again with the new password.

Raw Debug

Enables detailed diagnostic logging during print operations. When turned on, ProxyBox logs the raw data sent to and received from printers — useful for troubleshooting print formatting issues or verifying that the right data is reaching the printer.

Leave this off in normal operation. Turn it on when you’re actively debugging a print problem.

Force Cloud Check-in

Forces an immediate sync with the cloud management platform. Normally, your device checks in on a schedule. Use this after making configuration changes you want reflected in the cloud dashboard right away.
